Knarr US 132

Asking Price: $38,500

Penelope and her upwind slip next to the Golden Gate Yacht Club in the San Francisco City Marina are for sale. Knarr US 132 was built in Vejie Denmark 1983 at Borresen by longtime fleet member and past IKC Champion Dick Griffith. This boat is a fiberglass example that has had consistent upgrades and always has been a top performer in the fleet for decades, have won countless races. The mast was upgraded to aluminum with the fleet several years ago and all rigging was completed by GC. The epoxy rudder, rudder stock and Billet rudder head were all replaced four years ago with work completed by KKMI and managed by Ken Keefe personally. The winches have been moved forward for better cross sheeting and crew ergonomics. The boat and rigging have been maintained KKMI in Sausalito and GC Rigging and Composites in Richmond. The boat has a huge quiver of both North and Doyle racing sails and is a turnkey program. I have owned the and campaigned Penelope for over twenty years and can’t say enough positive things about the fleet, racing and comradery it provides for a reasonable budget. The design is perfectly suited for the big breeze of San Francisco Bay and proves to be a fabulous day sailor with family and friends. I have been consistently campaigning the boat for Wednesday Night Racing at St. Francis Yacht Club the last several years. Unfortunately, due to other sailing and racing activities, I have not been able to compete in the Knarr Season Championship for the last three years. I would also be open to a partnership if the right opportunity presented itself.

Owner’s Summary
Every conceivable upgrade has been made to 103, nothing spared. /KKMI by Ken Keefe oversaw the upgrades to 103 with Doug Frolic as the project manager for all work. She is a fast boat with the ability to point 1 to 2 degrees higher than the fleet at speed. The hull is Fir with Mahogany Trim. Black Widow bottom paint used every season and cleaned with microfiber. She is easily considered one of the top three fastest boats in the San Francisco Fleet. 103 has been upgraded significantly to ensure no loss of energy when the wind hits her sails. She is stiff like a glass boat. Many used sails – new set of North Sails from 2024. Turnkey and ready to win races!
